Note: The
famous people do not have to be alive, but they do have to be recent enough for
you to find good quality photographs of them from Google Images.

|

COMPOSITE IMAGE:
1.
Use GOOGLE IMAGES to find good quality photos of
the items you listed in the table above (all of these images should be fairly
LARGE; you can resize them as needed later).
2.
Use the PATH Tool to select the woman.
To
use the PATH Tool:
The Path Tool looks like an old fashion pen. Click on it to
select the Path Tool. Now CAREFULLY click, click, click all around the edges
of what you want to select. This creates a PATH around the object. Once you have created the path, you need to
change it to a selection. To do this:
SELECTàFROM
PATH. You should now see the “marching ants” going around the selection.
3.
Feather the image a little to soften the edges a
bit so it won’t look like you cut her out with scissors (maybe 5-10 pixel
feather?). Copy and paste the woman into the famous location.
4.
Position and resize the woman as needed (make
sure she actually looks like she is there!). This is called a COMPOSITE IMAGE.
5.
Now use the PATH Tool to carefully select the man
and the animals and put them in the famous location. Resize and move them as
needed. Again, make sure they look like they are ACTUALLY THERE.
6.
Now add an image of YOURSELF to the famous
location.
7.
Add this text to the image: Wish You Were Here! Make
sure the text is large enough to read easily. Format the text as needed (drop
shadow, etc.).
8.
Save the image both as an XCF and JPG.
BLOG: Create a blog post of the
composite image and briefly explain how you created the image.
I took the image of the White House, and decided to add two of my favorite musicians, dancing bears and a monkey who has his eyes covered as if he does not see what is going on the White House lawn. Oh, and me of course! The picture of me was the only one I had on my computer that was a head to toe image, and was not of great quality. I used it though since I lost the charger for my camera and my pictures taken with my phone would not open in GIMP for me. I used the path tool to select each image from it's background and copy and pasted it into the White House image; Scaling and feathering them quite a bit along the way.
